Welcome To My Nightmare
Darkness weaved an invisible noose
Around my weary neck
As its long emaciated fingers
Fondled and teased my breasts
The stagnant air danced round
In and out of my nostrils
Playing rhapsody in my lungs
Jabbing at them with hot pokers
Fear threw a thick black curtain
Over my frenzied eyes
Red flares exploding
Pirouetting in and out of sight.
Drums thundered in my temples
Pressure applied like a vice
Rambling down upon my head
My skull concaved on one side
Again the fingers danced and
Pulled tightly at the noose
While the air flew into a frenzy
I begged for mercy
And the music played a melody
As i floated in the sky
My heart smiled at the fire-works
Darting fingers shut my eyes
The maestro played the violin
And darkness hummed a lullaby
So pretty was the harmony
The grim reaper had arrived
By Wanda Stafford
I was about 27 when I wrote this, looking back I
Didn’t realize depression and torment was attacking
Me that long ago……
